WALKING IN THEIR SHOES
A GEORGIA CENTENNIAL PROJECT
Through newspaper archives and local research, we are documenting the Georgia chapters and past members whose service shaped our history. This living archive will grow as records are verified.
Select a chapter or the department to explore verified newspaper records, known members, and memorial history.
Research Notice: No information in this archive was taken from, or provided through, an American Gold Star Mothers membership application. All content is based on archived newspapers and other publicly available historical sources and is added as records are researched and verified.

CARRYING THEIR LEGACY FORWARD
In 1949, hundreds of Gold Star Mothers boarded a special train from Atlanta and traveled across the country to represent their families and their organization.
As American Gold Star Mothers approaches its 100th Anniversary in 2028, the Department of Georgia is preparing to carry that legacy forward. Georgia delegates will travel by train to Washington, D.C., representing today's Gold Star
Mothers while honoring the women whose footsteps we have uncovered throughout this archive.
Our Centennial Legacy Fund will help support the travel and participation of Georgia's 2028 Centennial delegates.
When you give, you aren't simply helping fund a trip. You are helping the next generation of Georgia Gold Star Mothers walk in the footsteps of the women who came before them.
